Philipp Neumann

High-performance computing and data science

Philipp Neumann is the first Lead Scientist at DESY in the field of computer science. His research focuses on high-performance computing for molecular dynamics simulations, multiscale simulations in fluid dynamics and machine learning. As head of DESY IT, he is also responsible for the coordination of the Helmholtz Federated IT Services (HIFIS), the federated IT infrastructure and platform to support research work within the Helmholtz Association. Moreover, he has experience in acquiring third-party funding, establishing research groups and developing high-performance computing capacities and associated competence structures.
