Wim Leemans
Director of the Accelerator Division
Wim Leemans has headed DESY’s Accelerator Division since 2019. The renowned plasma accelerator pioneer was previously director of the Accelerator Technology and Applied Physics Division at Lawrence Berkeley Lab (USA) and head of the BELLA (Berkeley Lab Laser Accelerator) Center. Since 2020, Wim Leemans has also been a professor at the University of Hamburg.
