For getting around campus, DESY has made a variety of transport options available for its staff and visitors. Using environmentally friendly transport options is encouraged wherever possible. To that end, we have provided bicycles and, more recently, ten e-bikes.
DESY Vehicle Fleet:
For work-related travel purposes, cars, vans, pedelecs, e-transport bikes and minibuses seating up to nine people can be borrowed from the DESY vehicle fleet.
Bookings can be made via the Online vehicle pool
Following booking, vehicle keys can be collected from reception in Building 6/110 on presentation of your driving licence.
The vehicles are parked at the rear of Bldg. 42b.
DESY Car Service:
The car service is managed by Peter-Jürgen Weigelt. He is also available as a driver when booked through the secretariats of the directors' office.
DESY Bicycles:
Each DESY group has its own bicycles, which can be used by group members. Since June, DESY staff also have access to ten e-bikes, which can be booked through V1 (Bldg. 6/Rm. 110).
In the event of breakdown or defect, please take your e-bike to V1 (Bldg. 6/Rm. 110) for repair.
StadtRAD Hamburg
On the DESY premises there are two citybike docking stations (Stadtrad HH): one in front of Bldg. 6 (by the post office) and one next to Bldg. 25b. These bikes can be booked through the citybike app, which can be downloaded from the link https://stadtrad.hamburg.de/kundenbuchung/process.php?proc=mobileapp&&changeto=511
These bikes are the property of StadtRAD HAMBURG, which is responsible for their operation and repair.
Please note the regulations governing private vehicle use (currently only in Germany).
