Visit DESY in Hamburg
DESY invites you on a journey into the world of the smallest particles, and to see everything in a completely different light. Book a trip back in time across the universe and take a peek into the technology of tomorrow.
Please note the following information:
- Please always make tour requests as early as possible.
- Our visitor appointments are fully booked until the end of October 2026. We cannot accommodate last-minute requests.
- Individuals have the opportunity to join a scheduled DESY tour if there are still enough places available. Please make a booking request via 'Book a tour'.
- In winter 2026, we will open our DESYUM visitor centre, which will feature a large exhibition. The exhibition will be freely accessible during opening hours.
- The tours last approximately 3 hours and are free of charge.
- Visitors must be at least 16 years of age.
- Group size is limited to a maximum of 50 people.
General information:
- We usually schedule DESY tours from Tuesday to Friday, starting at 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
- Other start times can be arranged individually upon request.
- Depending on capacity, DESY tours take place weekly, but not daily.
- We offer a public tour once a month on a Saturday, as long as places are available.
- There are no tours on Sundays, public holidays, or between Christmas and New Year.
Safety information:
- The tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility.
- The tour involves covering long distances by foot and climbing stairs.
- For safety reasons, children and young people under the age of 16 are not permitted to participate.
