Andreas R. Maier

Plasma acceleration

Andreas Maier is Lead Scientist at DESY, working in the field of plasma acceleration. His research focuses on the integration of plasma accelerators and their high-power drive lasers. Combining both aspects will be key to mature plasma accelerator technology for future applications. He also conducts research in the field of plasma-based free-electron lasers.

Andreas Maier currently leads the KALDERA project, which aims to achieve laser plasma acceleration at particularly high repetition rates to demonstrate reliable plasma electron beams through the application of active stabilisation.
